A Spell to Help a Loved One Overcome Addiction Using The Temperance Major Arcana Tarot Card

The Temperance Card

The Temperance card has always brought a sense of balance into our lives…spiritual, physical and emotional balance!

But When Reversed it can often indicate that balance being disturbed by too much of something…lack of willpower, judgment…even addiction.

Moderation in all things…balance…a lovely place to be…but we all know how easily that balance be disturbed when we do too much on one thing….we’ll focus today on healing of addictions…and remember addictions come in many forms, from money, to eating to drugs and alcohol.

So Here is a simple spell to help with a loved one with any addictions, specifically substance abuse. This spell is variation on a spell from 1001 Spells by Cassandra Eason.

This is a Chart of corresponding magickal elements that work with The Temperance Card…this focuses mostly on the card in Light or Right Side up…but we will be doing shadow work when this card is in shadow or reversed.

Timing: Saturday Mornings

What you’ll need…

  • A Photo of the person BEFORE the problem began, no matter how young…
  • The Temperance Card
  • Four Feathers
  • A White Candle
  • An Amethyst for Emotion Protection and Balance

1.

  • For the week before the spell, put the feathers in a square around the photo and have them remain between subsequent spells.
  • Light Your White Candle
  • Put out your Amethyst
  • And Lay out The Temperance Card

2.

Each night light the White candle and waft each feather in turn over the picture & Temperance Card, saying:

“May freedom be restored, More Joyous than before. I blow away what destroys you this day. You will feel a new life supported by those who love you through this strife.”

Extinguish The Candle.

3.

Do this each night for a week.

Each morning repeat step 2, each time turning The Temperance Card in small increments until the 7th Day when it will be Right Side up for the final spell.

Extinguish the candle each night.

4.

The night of the seventh day when the Temperance Card is upright representing the restored balance for your loved one, repeat the words and actions but let the candle burn down.

5.

Finally Carry the feathers to a windy place and release them, saying the same words…”May freedom be restored, More Joyous than before. I blow away what destroys you this day. You will feel a new life supported by those who love you through this strife.” for each feather.
